Like all medicines, Altavita® D3 may cause some side effects, although not everyone gets them.

These side effects include too much calcium in your blood or urine. This affects less than 1 in 100 people.
– Too much calcium in your blood is known as hypercalcaemia. You may feel or be sick, lose your appetite, have constipation, stomach ache, feel very thirsty, have muscle weakness, drowsiness or confusion.
– Too much calcium in your urine is known as hypercalciuria.

Rare side effects include skin rash, itching and hives, and these affect less than 1 in 1,000 people.

If you notice any kind of side effect while taking this medicine, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
You should not stop taking your medicine unless advised to do so by your doctor or pharmacist, but this means that you need to see them, or speak to them, as soon as possible

Vitamin D is very important to pregnant and breastfeeding women as they have a higher need for it.

If you are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant, it’s best to talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Altavita®  D3

If you or your child takes more medicine than prescribed, stop using this medicine and contact your doctor. If it is not possible to talk to a doctor, go to the nearest hospital emergency department and take the medicine package with you.

If you forget to take your dose of Altavita® D3, take the forgotten dose as soon as possible. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten dose. Take your next dose in line with the instructions given to you by your doctor.
